F-1 - Academic Student Visa
Eligibility & Enrollment Requirements
To be eligible for an F-1 visa, you must meet specific USCIS and Department of State regulatory standards:
- Institutional Approval: You must be enrolled as a full-time student at an institution that is certified by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP).
- The I-20 Form: Once accepted into an SEVP-certified school, the institution will issue you a Form I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status).
- Financial Support: You must demonstrate that you have sufficient funds available to support yourself for the duration of your proposed course of study.
- English Proficiency: You must be proficient in English or be enrolled in courses leading to English proficiency.
